    College Advisor Position

    Benet Academy is a Catholic, college preparatory high school of 1300 students in Lisle, IL.  Benet seeks a talented, energetic, and dedicated college advisor with excellent communications skills and a thorough understanding of the college admissions process for selective and highly selective institutions of higher learning.  The college advisor will work alongside 2 other college advisors and 3 generalist counselors. 

    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    The college advisor reports directly to the Counseling Department Chair and has the following responsibilities:

    • provides a program of comprehensive, planned guidance services for roughly one-third of the senior class (approximately 110 students);
    • conducts individual college interviews with members of the junior class during their spring semester;
    • coordinates the college selection and application process with students and parents, including writing letters of recommendations and processing applications;
    • organizes and implements a number of parent/student information sessions throughout the school year;
    • coordinates financial aid and scholarship opportunities;
    • develops and maintains relationships with colleges and university representatives on behalf of Benet and its students;
    • acts as a college liaison to the Benet community;
    • counsels students and/or parents on academic and college-related issues;
    • supervises a study hall;
    • fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Minimally a bachelor's degree, preferably with counseling credentials and highly developed verbal skills (both oral and written)

    Experience: Involvement with the college admission process as either a college representative or as a high school counselor / college advisor is preferred; experience as a high school teacher in a college-prep environment would also be desirable though not essential

    Graceland University has an opening for a Director of Financial Aid Services on the Lamoni, IA campus. This position is responsible for the university’s awarding of federal, state and institutional aid according to federal and institutional awarding guidelines.     The Admissions Office at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside invites applications for an Admissions Counselor/Recruiter.  This is a 12-month full time position that reports to the Director of Admissions and  will require extensive travel and some evening and weekend work.     • Prepare and present programs to large and small groups from various backgrounds and establish rapport with all levels of personnel.
    • Discuss on the telephone and in person the options available at the College, the costs to attend, scholarship options, and admissions criteria.
    • Excellent writing skills
    • Manage and update the College Recruiting Database on an ongoing and regular basis.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • Provide weekly, monthly, and other admissions reports as requested.
    • Evaluate and execute admission decisions on applicant files
    • Assist with campus-wide recruitment events
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 

    Requirements / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years experience (preferably as a college recruiter) are required.
    • A valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required to travel, sometimes to great distances, throughout the Midwestern United States. 
    • Evening and weekend hours are required, especially during certain times of the year.
    • No or very limited physical effort required, however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
