Recruiter/Advisor for Woodstock Center and George Williams College of Aurora University


Aurora University is an independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. We seek people passionately involved in the educational process who will help us realize our vision.

POSITION SUMMARY:   Responsible for recruitment of undergraduate (including freshman, transfer and adult degree completion students) and graduate students for programs offered out of the Woodstock Center and the George Williams College Campus.  Counsels prospective students throughout the admission process. Reports to the Director of Enrollment.


 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Represents Aurora University in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.  Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University.
  2. Upholds the Mission Statement:  Aurora University an inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning.
  3. Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
  4. Serves as a member of the enrollment recruitment team.
  5. Assumes responsibility for recruiting students for programs offered through Aurora University - Woodstock Center and George Williams College.
  6. Provides accurate information about Aurora University's degree programs and admission procedures, including academic requirements for specific majors.
  7. Advises and counsels students throughout the admission, financial aid and advisement processes.
  8. Represents Aurora University at internal and external recruiting events, including area schools, companies and agencies.
  9. Interviews and counsels students, providing information, reviewing credentials and facilitating appointments with appropriate faculty and staff.
  10. Reviews undergraduate and graduate admission files for admission.
  11. Assists with the planning and coordinating of special events for students at both Woodstock and GWC.
  12. Performs unofficial evaluations of college transcripts for incoming undergraduate and graduate students.
  13. Recommends and helps implement strategies for recruiting adult and graduate students.
  14. Works with program directors and the Director of Enrollment Communications to design marketing materials and plan events.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessary.
  • Assists with promotional materials where appropriate.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor's degree, master's degree preferred.
  2. Goal-oriented individual with experience in higher education and/or sales.
  3. Ability to relate well to prospective students necessary.
  4. Excellent communication and organizational skills and a customer-service orientation and professional manner.
  5. Computer knowledge essential.
  6. Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and to develop strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students and the general public.
  7. Flexibility with an evolving work situation.
  8. Works well in both team and individual settings.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly to colleges, college and career fairs, and businesses, providing own vehicle.
  • Ability to move about at those locations.
  • Ability to move about campus.
  • Ability to interact via telephone, in person and via electronic media.
  • Some evening and Saturday hours required.
